About the work:
During the event of Obon in Japan, it is believed that the souls of the deceased family members come back home. Hoozuki lantern plants are popular as offerings to assist in guiding the souls. I was thinking of their safe journey home whilst making the work. (Saori Parry, 2023, amended in 2025)
